There is a wolf pack that lives here. When we went we stayed in site 29, which is a beautiful hike-in site right on the water. One night we heard the wolves start to howl. Awhile later, we heard running on the path, followed by the scream of an animal. The next thing we knew, we heard wolves sniffing around our tents. Other than not being prepared for wolves (and having our dog with us), we enjoyed our stay at the campground. It has many great sites, and is what a north woods campground should be.
Best part.....no people. Bueatiful and quiet.
Even though it rained when we stayed, we still had a fantastic time. Very cool and secluded campsites. Beautiful lake. Highly recommend
Brought our dogs here for the first time, late September... great fall colors, everyone had a wonderful time in the lake (I believe dogs aren't allowed in the "swimming area" but we were at a campsite with direct lake access, one of many) The scenery is beautiful. The campsites are very nice, secluded, primitive-ish, well-kept... no electricity to my knowledge (no problem!). Highly recommended, next time we'll stay overnight.
One of the most secluded campgrounds in the Chequamegon. All the sites are on the water and has a boat launch and 3 more secluded walk in sites. Only $12 per day. Make sure you turn on the paved road to get to the campground bc the sign isnt marked very well.
